In this video, I demonstrate some classic fills, talking about why they’re good, and providing some inspiration for you to start adding fills into your own bass playing. Check it out. Hello Jon, love this video. I have been putting my signature on songs I have covered for years. It is something that I love to do and helps me stay motivated and creative in my bass playing. As you suggest if helps to move the song along and if it needs it. I put my on spin on many a classic cover. They way you know it works is if someone notices it a it puts a smile on their face :). Playing bass for over 50 years and still learning stuff everyday.

@@ForBassPlayersOnly This is personal for me. My brother was an incredible bass player. He was Manic depressant too. He didn't read music, just listened to any song and had the bass line down in 10 minutes flat. He played piano and was the lead singer as well. He as about Jaco's age too, Just an amazing talent with packed shows for over 30 years. Not a song writer though. The legacy will always be there and that is something that is priceless,

Jaco had Manic depression. That is way above bipolar. In Mania, the brain runs like a turbo charger. For Jaco the musician, that meant incredible Music creations and excess energy... After that, there's a system crash. He couldn't Just sleep it off or take medication either.

For my money, when it's all set and done, Brian Bromberg could very well be the greatest and most accomplished bass player of all time. He has covered virtually every style of music and is incredibly versatile on both acoustic & electric bass. He may not be a household name like Stanley Clarke or Jaco Pastorius but he is definitely up there with them as far as important voices for the bass. One of the true masters of the bass playing and in my bass Mount Rushmore. Excellent in depth interview with one of the all time greats.

  • @KeithCopeland778

Brian is one of the few multi-genre virtuosos on the planet concerning the electric and upright basses and is an absolute MASTER of the instrument!!! It was a fantastic interview and great insights into Brian's physical challenges, how he overcame them, and how he learned to play in tune from a virtuoso violinist! Stanley Clarke's action is reported to be very low, too! I love Brian's Every Note Counts philosophy! We're hired to play bass and serve the song, not to play bass solos!!! Technology will not make you a better bass player! You play the bass because you love music and love playing bass!!! So many gems and one of the best music-related interviews I've ever seen!!! I looking forward to his new project with Paul Brown and Michael Paulo and his tribute to Scott LaFaro!!

It's such a shame that Eddy and Alex were so petty and insecure (and drugged out) for so much of their careers. They had this fabled golden goose that made great music--that I lot of people loved--while at the same time generating hundreds of millions of dollars. But their egos got the best of them and they had to fvck it all up for everyone--including themselves. Idiots.

Clifford and Cook have no shame. John Fogerty rates with Lennon, McCartney, Carol King and Harry Nilsson as the best songwriters of that era. These two clowns got stupid by thinking that they had the same kind of talent as John. The fact is John was in a magical songwriting zone for 3 or 4 years and these guys went for a magic carpet ride and obviously felt entitled. Their greedy egos allowed them to be scavengers with no self respect. Johns music was manipulated away from him, I can't blame him for bad feelings, as musicians, they're a joke
